Change of official email address

The department has decided that the official email address will be changed from <firstname>.<lastname>@mat.dtu.dk or <initials>@imm.dtu.dk respectively to <dtuinitials>@dtu.dk. In other word, the email addresses shown on www pages and the reply-to addresses in send email will have the form <dtuinitials>@dtu.dk. From a technical point of view this means that:

  • a new email adr. will be associated to each mailbox. However, please note all existing email addresses will remain functional, emails will still be received on the old addresses
  • sending from webmail or Outlook the change will happen automatically. Sending from other clients like thunderbird requires a manual change to the setup.
  • the email address showed on auto generated webpages (e.g. under http://www.mat.dtu.dk) will reflect the change and show <dtunitials>@dtu.dk

A potential problem with the change of email adr. is, that if one has subscribed to a distribution list (managed by a traditional listmanager) using the email adr. <initials>@imm.dtu.dk it might not be possible to unsubscribe from that list with the reply-to adr. <dtuinitials>@dtu.dk.

The new email addresses (<dtuinitials>@dtu.dk) will be functional from February 4th and the change to the official address will be done February 5th.

New email distribution lists

We have established new email distribution lists for DTU Compute.

The lists follows the same principle as the old IMM lists, however the "VIP" and “TAP” categories’ have been split into sub categories’ (vipfaculty, vipresearch, vipextern, tapadm, tapvid).

Most of the former distribution lists for IMM have been "upgraded" to reflect the new organization. The distribution lists from MAT (e.g. MAT_VIP (MAT)) continues to exist but will no longer be maintained with new members. Caveat: due to the "reuse" of e.g. "staff_imm" as "staff_compute" Outlook might present the list as "staff_imm" due to caching issues. The list still includes the full DTU Compute.

Users of Outlook will now find the distributions lists as well as DTU Compute staff in the Outlook address book under "DTU Compute".

Most former distribution lists could be used to manage access right (e.g. one could grant access to the Outlook calendar to the group "staff_imm"). Those sharing access rights continue to function but with the modification that "staff_imm" now is equal to "staff_compute".
