Users at DTU Compute have access to several VPN services

OpenVPN and AITs Cisco VPN and eduVPN

Openvpn and AITs Cisco VPN route data going to DTU through the VPN tunnel. Other traffic goes through you device network connection. They can be used to access DTU and Compute services like Invoice and license servers.

EduVPN tunnels all you traffic, which is important if you are on an insecure network like a coffee bar or a hotel. However it can NOT be used to access DTU or Compute resources.

In most cases you can choose between Cisco VPN or OpenVPN, but for most Android versions only OpenVPN works and for iOS (Ipad) only Cisco VPN works. AITs Cisco VPN gives access to the DTU Compute network if your primary affiliation at DTU is with DTU Compute, otherwise it only gives access to general DTU services. Contact itsupport@compute.dtu.dk for details.

openVPN and Cisco VPN gives access to many DTU Compute resources:

  • your files on central DTU Compute servers
  • access winterm and other Windows hosts with remote desktop
  • SSH to hosts
  • use licenses
  • print to printers at DTU Compute
  • access DTU services like invoices
