This page describes how to add a printer to a Windows PC at DTU Compute. For a short general description of the printing systems and list of printers available at DTU Compute please refer to this link.
Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit), Windows XP and Vista 32 bit are supported using the winprint server. Vista 64 bit is not supported and must use the optional method described below. Windows 8 (32 and 64 bit) are not fully tested but basic printing features have been tested succesfully.
There is a minor difference installing printers whether your Windows PC is joined to DTU's Windows domain (win.dtu.dk, in short "WIN") or not. Press Windows key + Pause/Break key will open system information. If "win.dtu.dk" is set under Domain, your PC is joined to the domain.
If your still in doubt please contact ITSupport.
For Windows Vista 64bit you will have to use the CUPS server. Procedure can be found at the bottom of this page.

Follow this procedure to add a printer to your Windows computer:
- Go to "Start" -> "Run" (or press Windows Key + R)
- Type \\imm-winprint.win.dtu.dk and press Enter

*: If promted here REMEMBER you are NOT on the domain, and have to type "win\yourcredentials" followed by you password.
You HAVE to authenticate in order to use printers when not connected tothe DTU Active Directory domain (WIN).
For example: to add the printer imm-bp322206a (for a list of printers available at IMM please follow this link)
\\imm-winprint.win.dtu.dk\imm-bp322206a has to entered in the name field in item 7.
NOTE:
- This is only possible when attached to the IMM network
- When you are prompted for a password it is your Windows domain password. If you have never used the Windows domain you must ask ITSupportto set a new password for you.
- Alternative printer installation (when attached to IMMnetwork):
- Open "Run..." (Win + R) and write: \\imm-winprint.win.dtu.dk
- Wait for Windows to connect to printer share and list all available printers
- Find the wanted printer in the list and right-click it. Choose: "Connect" (this will install the printer)
