Summary

Non registered PCs/notebooks will be moved to private IP adresses behind a NAT from August 1st.

Details

Starting from August 1st we will change the network access for some of the PCs/notebooks attached to IMMs network.

  • PC's/notebooks which have not been registered by IMM IT Support will no longer get a public IP address, but a private IP behind a NAT. From this IP there will be access to IMM servers as if the PC was attached to e.g. DTU wireless. Access to Internet will continue to work although more "advanced" applications (e.g. various real time streaming video/netmeetings applications) might not work.
  • There will be no changes for PC's/notebooks which have been registered.

A registered PC/notebook is a PC where its MAC address has been given a reservation on the DHCP server.

PCs/notebooks bought by IMM IT Service should have been registered. However, it cannot guarantee that a few might not have been registered.
To see if a PC/notebook has been registered, find the IP address when it is connected to the IMM network:

  • If the IP address is in the range 130.225.68.1-130.225.71.191 it is registered.
  • If the IP address is in the range 130.225.71.192-254 is has not been registered.
