To use the standard Exchange active sync, you need to accept som terms. When you accept these, your phone can be wiped from the DTU Exchange. Central DTU IT say they will not wipe your phone or do any of the other things you allow them to, but you can wipe it yourself with this function.

Open settings, choose accounts, select '''add account''', choose '''Outlook''

If you do not want this, you can use the IMAP settings below instead. For calendar you probably need a paid app to sync without accepting the terms.

• Email = your DTU email address - e.g. your_user@dtu.dk. For Android 9 use your_user@win.dtu.dk

Access to DTU mail

Email and Calendar Sync with DTU Exchange

We recommend the Outlook app, but you can also use other email and calendar apps on your device to synchronize with DTU.

Setup

On many Android phones, you use settings to add the account. You may have to do it in the mail app instead.

Open settings, choose accounts, select add account', choose Outlook

• Email = your DTU email address - e.g. your_user@dtu.dk. For Android 9 use your_user@win.dtu.dk

• Password = The same as for inside.dtu.dk

If there are advanced settings or if asked for more information you may need this:

• Domain/user field = win\your_user or maybe your_user@win.dtu.dk

• Mailserver = mail.win.dtu.dk

• Domain field = leave empty

Known problems:

Some newer versions of the standard mail app on Android do not accept the DTU settings, so you may need to use an other mail app.

Mail and Calendar without active sync

IMAP/SMTP

You can also access DTU mail with IMAP and SMTP. This will not include your Exchange calendar. On this page provided by central DTU AIT is a description of the setup.

We recommend using the K9mail app for IMAP because we have seen problems with other mail programs, but there are many mail programs. K9mail can not be used for Exchange Active Sync, only for IMAP/SMTP.

Calendar

If you buy or find a free app for this, you may need this information:

Server name: mail.win.dtu.dk

Uncheck autodiscover

userid: Your DTU userid

password: Your DTU password

outlook email: your_user@dtu.dk

SMTP problems on some Androids

For at least some versions of Android, it is not possible to use the DTU SMTP server because of the nonstandard settings.

If you still want to use SMTP, you can use smtpauth.compute.dtu.dk to send mail, however you will not be able to send mail to internal DTU Compute mailinglists, as the server is seen as external by the central DTU mail server. Instead you can use webmail for these messages: mail.dtu.dk

To use smtpauth, you need:

Server: smtpauth.compute.dtu.dk

Sec type: TLS

Port: 587

check Require sign-in

Username and password as usual at Compute
