I currently have knowledge of 4 instances of unpleasantness with the installation of Mavericks.

2 of these relate to the installation itself: it CAN go wrong. One stalled at "34 minutes left", and was gone after reboot and partition verify and repair, that was needed in ordre to even get the machine to boot. The other downloaded and installed the update, but was then aborted due to inpatientness (is that a word?) and again left the partition un-bootable. Verify and Repair did the job there.

The two other instances relate to the speed/performance

One is with Microsoft Outlook being loooong time about syncronizing to the Exchange-Server. The other being generally slow and tiresome.

I know the first of the latter two is a relatively new computer, but the second is actually 3 and a half year old - SO the systems requirements for Maverick are:

And yes, a 3 and a half year old Mac should be able to run Maverick - perhaps it just does not run that fast !!

There are several other posts regarding this - so perhaps one should wait for a 10.9.1 release, or a newer computer - or a patch from Apple.
