Linux
We can pre-install a Linux distribution on your laptop, with:
- Login using your DTU credentials
- Full Disk Encryption
- Select software packages
Distributions
- Fedora
- Debian
- Mint
- Ubuntu
Desktop Environment (DE)
GNOME
This desktop is the default in many distributions such as Fedora and Ubuntu.
KDE
This desktop provides a more Windows-like experience out of the box, but is very configurable. It can be chosen for distros such as Fedora and Debian.
Cinnamon
Another Windows-like desktop. Default in Linux Mint.
Note
If you prefer a minimal Window Manager (WM) instead, you are of course free to install and use it alongside the installed DE.
The Linux display server stack is moving away from X11 and defaults to Wayland. If you are using a tiling WM like i3, consider migrating to the compatible Sway or something else like Hyprland.
