Mailing lists
DTU Compute has three sets of mailing lists:
- Lists based on position and section at DTU Compute, e.g.
vip_stat'at' compute.dtu.dk. There is a hierarchical structure; e.g.vip_compute'at' compute.dtu.dk contains the union ofvip_X'at' compute.dtu.dk where X is the various sections at DTU Compute. - Lists based on position and office location, e.g.
phd_321'at' compute.dtu.dk - Ad Hoc Lists for other purposes, e.g.
comp-chipdesignandcomp-imagelabgrp
Note
A table of the lists can be found here please note that access to this page is only available from inside the DTU Compute network

Note
X in the illustration represents the department (“compute”) or the various sections
- Mailing lists are created for 6 categories of offices. One for each of the buildings: 303, 321, 322 and 324.
- Users can "belong" to multiple sections or groups or belong to multiple position categories (e.g. a student help is both a student and an employee)
- Information comes from DTUBasen and is maintained there.
- The STUD list is rather incomplete, i.e. does not list all students at the department, nor students doing their thesis at DTU Compute. It merely lists students which are using IT facilities at the department.
- (for outlook/webmail users) The mailing lists can be found under DTU Compute in the Outlook address book''. The are found under the names COMP-all_compute etc.
- (for outlook/webmail users) To send to all members of a list except one: find the relevant list in the address book, click on the + sign and expand the list of group members. Remove the person you do not want to send to
- The email lists are blocked for non-DTU senders, i.e. send using outlook/webmail. For imap/smtp users (e.g. thunderbird) one has to use mail.dtu.dk as outgoing smtp server
Private Distribution List
To create a email distribution list with internal (i.e., DTU) as well as external (i.e., non-DTU) people. The email adress will have the form your-choice@dtudk.onmicrosoft.com.
- Go to https://outlook.office.com
- Click on People icon
- Click on Go to groups
and follow the guidelines. Special focus on Allow people outside the organization to email the group.
If you want to prevent spam, you can: Enable Message approval (moderation) and Add Allowed senders list.
